Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CC Ride ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and retains personal data when you use the ccride.ng website or the CC Ride mobile app ("Services"). We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
1. Data we collect
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identity & contact | Name, email, phone number, date of birth, profile photo |
| Government ID | NIN or passport number (drivers & corporate employees; optional for passengers) — used only to verify identity, never displayed to other users |
| Driver documents | Driving licence, vehicle registration and roadworthiness documents |
| Location | Live and trip-history GPS location while using the app for a ride |
| Trip data | Pickup/drop-off points, fare, OTP confirmation, route, ratings |
| Payment data | Wallet balance, transaction and payout history — full card numbers are handled by our payment processors, not stored by us |
| Device & usage | Device type, push-notification token, app version, crash/log data |
| Communications | Support tickets, messages you send us, form submissions on ccride.ng |
2. How we use your data
- To create and manage your account, and verify driver/corporate-employee identity before approving them to carry passengers
- To match passengers with drivers, calculate fares, and confirm pickup/drop-off via OTP
- To process payments, wallet top-ups, coupon/referral credits, and driver payouts
- To enable corporate features — budgets, approval workflows, pool-vehicle access scoped to your organisation
- To send trip, account, and security notifications (push, email, SMS)
- To investigate safety reports, disputes, and fraud
- To respond to support requests
- To meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
3. Who we share data with
- The other party in a trip — a driver sees the passenger's name, pickup location, and vice versa; full ID documents are never shared between users
- Your organisation's admin — if you're a corporate employee, your organisation's admin can see your trips, spend, and pool-vehicle usage under their account, per their agreement with CC Ride
- Payment processors — Paystack and Flutterwave process card and bank payments on our behalf
- Communication providers — email and SMS/OTP delivery providers, and push-notification services
- Map & location services — to show routes and estimate fares
- Law enforcement or regulators — only where required by law, or to protect the safety of our users
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Data retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the purposes above. Most account and profile data is deleted within 30 days of a confirmed deletion request; some records are retained longer where Nigerian tax, financial, or safety regulation requires it. Full detail — including exact retention periods per data type and how to request deletion — is on our Delete Account & Data page.
5. Your rights
Under the NDPR/NDPA, you can:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data — most of this you can edit directly in your app profile
- Request deletion of your account and data (see here)
- Object to certain uses of your data, such as marketing communications
- Withdraw consent where our processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ccride.ng.
6. Data security
We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access controls limiting who inside CC Ride can view identity documents and payment data — to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, and we encourage you to keep your account credentials confidential.
7. Children's privacy
CC Ride is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
8. Cookies (website)
The ccride.ng website uses only essential cookies/local storage needed for the site to function (for example, remembering that you've seen a notice). We don't use third-party advertising trackers on this site.
9. International data transfer
Our infrastructure may process or store data outside Nigeria (for example, on cloud servers). Where this happens, we take steps to ensure an equivalent level of protection, consistent with NDPR requirements.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
